Tui Na Massage

Tui Na is a simple yet very effective division of Traditional Chinese Medicine which has been practised and used in China for thousands of years. It is one of the three components of traditional Chinese Medicine offered in virtually every hospital in China (the second and third being Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine). In the Western hemisphere, this type of massage is more commonly known as acupressure or deep tissue massage.
Tui Na is a medical massage related to Acupuncture. Instead of needles, deep pressure is applied along the meridians (energy lines) in a variety of moves, using different parts of the fingers, palms and elbows. Each of these channels has a unique relationship with an organ of the body. This releases blockages causing pain, and restores balance in the body. The unique rolling action harmonises and recharges the body's internal energy.
Tui Na put simply is acupuncture WITHOUT the needles, with the added benefit of an invigorating and relaxing massage. It is usually performed on the clothed body and the person is either lying on a couch or sitting upright in a chair, but is so versatile, it can be adapted to most environments including wheelchair users.
